The Field

West out of Glueburg the ground opens up into The Field, the first place in the world you can call your own. The town's west gate is the way in, and the strip of black market stalls is the other.

Land you can own

Every zone before this one is shared ground. The Field is different. It is surveyed into plots, and a plot becomes yours the moment you claim it. Walk up to any empty plot and take it on the spot. From then on it carries your name, and nobody else can build there. One rule: one home plot per soul. Choose yours like you mean it.

Four sizes, 75 plots, one per soul

Plots come in four sizes. Seventy five lots are carved into the Field, and 64 of them are open today. The other eleven sit locked in reserve and open one at a time as the world fills up: see New Land.

Each size asks a price in gloo and a level you must have reached first. The price depends on which wave a lot came from, and the rule has held every time: newer land costs more than the land before it. The level gate never moves.

Size Level Open now Prices you will see Also needs
6x6 3 32 of 39 3,000 · 6,000 · 12,000 nothing
8x8 7 19 of 22 7,000 · 14,000 · 28,000 nothing
10x10 12 9 of 10 15,000 · 30,000 · 60,000 4 iron fittings to build
12x12 18 4 of 4 30,000 · 60,000 6 iron fittings and a keystone to build

Bigger land costs more gloo, waits on more levels, and past a point bricks alone stop being enough: a 10x10 stable also wants 4 iron fittings, and a 12x12 wants six of them plus a keystone, both of them things the creatures drop.

All four 12x12 lots are claimable, and none is held in reserve. Claiming one is gloo and a level; building on one is what needs the keystone, and the only keystone in the world comes off Lil Knacker at the top of Knacker's Pass. Four of these plots will ever exist, so the demand on that relic is genuinely tiny.

One home plot per soul, whatever its size.

Land is not free to keep

Claiming is a one time price. Owning is not.

A built stable eats bricks every day and stops producing if you let the bank run dry (Stable Upkeep), and a plot whose owner has not been seen in the world for fourteen days is listed for sale by the world itself (The Stable Auction). Land here is somewhere you live, not somewhere you park.

The frontier

The Field is not all quiet pasture. The plots are surveyed across its western half; its eastern strip, the ground you walk through on the way in from town, is frontier. Boar and badger packs hold it and a wolf den sits in the middle of it. That is the nearest fight to home, and where a lot of iron fittings come from.

Only the start

A claimed plot is bare ground with your name on it. You make it a home by raising a stable on it. See Build a Stable.
