Make Your Horse
Before you enter, you make your soul.
Form
Choose to wake as a horse or a human. This is the one choice you cannot take back: once you cross into the shared world, your form is yours for good. Your companion is always the other kind, and their look is rolled for you when you create.
Look
A horse picks a coat, a mane and boots. A human picks a skin tone, a hair and a build. That is your starting wardrobe, not the whole of it: more looks unlock as you level, drop in the wild, or come with things you craft, and some pieces carry a small perk. See Gear and Rarity.
Name
Pick a name. It is yours alone: no two souls in the world can share one, so if the name you want is already taken you will be asked for another. You are not stuck with it either: your first rename in Settings is free, every one after that costs 1,500 gloo and waits 30 days.
Starting stats
You get 9 points to spend across five stats, and 3 more with every level:
- Speed moves you and gathers faster.
- Resistance is more health and less damage taken.
- Power is damage, and damage is how the wild pays.
- Wits sharpen what you craft, and land more critical hits.
- Stamina is your pool for running and fighting, and how fast it comes back.
Spend them how you want to play. Every point you can earn pays full value: the diminishing returns curve only starts at 140 in one stat, higher than any build can reach.
Nothing here is truly permanent, oddly enough. There is no respec in the world, but every death hands all your spent points back. The soul panel keeps three saved builds, so after a death you can replay a spread you liked in one click instead of counting it back out point by point. See Your Five Stats for exactly what each one does to the numbers.
What you wake up with
₲1,000. Every new soul is credited a welcome purse once, on its first arrival, and never again. It is enough to buy a shiv, a scrap plate and a few meals, or to make your first bid on the Exchange.
