# The Kiln and Armour Fusing

The **kiln** does two jobs and wears two tabs, **bricks** and **armour**. Three of them stand in the Foal Pen, and you can build one of your own.

## The bricks tab

The ordinary bench. What it fires:

| Item | Recipe |
|---|---|
| **Brick** | 3 horse shit + 2 straw + 1 water |
| **Metal Rod** | 4 scrap |
| **Metal Sheet** | 3 metal rods |
| **Bone** | 2 fishbone, from level 6 |

That is the whole [brick economy](/gluebook/gluniverse-the-brick-economy) and the [black market's](/gluebook/gluniverse-black-market) metal, in one place.

## The armour tab

The other half is a **fuse ladder**, and it is the only way armour gets better after it comes off the bench.

**Two of a tier make one of the next.** Every rung, always, no roll and no chance of losing anything: put in two commons and you get an uncommon. The cost is not a risk, it is the **fuel**.

| Rung | Burns |
|---|---|
| 2 common → 1 uncommon | **8 horse shit** |
| 2 uncommon → 1 rare | **12** |
| 2 rare → 1 legendary | **16** |
| 2 legendary → 1 mythic | **20** |

Each press also charges the ordinary **10 gloo** bench fee to the town treasury.

## What can be fused

Only armour that **rolled a rarity**, which today means exactly two pieces: the **Bone Plate** (human) and the **Bone Barding** (horse), both level 16 workshop crafts. Barding and the scrap plate roll nothing, so they have no ladder to climb.

Charms are a different lane. They fuse at the **fusing station** in the workshop, deepen a perk rather than climb a tier, and eat bone rather than shit. See [the item catalog](/gluebook/the-item-catalog).

## The town kiln stops at rare

A **public kiln** in the Foal Pen fires armour **up to rare**, and no further. Aim higher and it says so: a town kiln only fires armour up to rare.

**Legendary and mythic need a kiln of your own.** That is the whole reason to build one.

## Building a plot kiln

**150 bricks**, on a plot with a **built stable** on it. Stand at your stable, open the stash panel, take the **stable** tab, and the **upgrades** section has a **kiln** row with a bar. Press **lay bricks** and it takes every brick you carry, up to what the kiln still owes.

At three shit a brick that is 450 horse shit through the brick chain before it fires once. Once it stands, the same panel's **fuse armour** button opens the ladder, and it fires **any tier**.

The kiln comes down with the stable if you dismantle, refunding 65% of its bricks like every other escrowed piece.

## Mythic

**Mythic cannot be rolled and cannot be dropped.** No bench and no creature will ever give you one. The ladder is the only door, and it is a long one: **sixteen common pieces and 164 horse shit**, over fifteen presses, make a single mythic.

What you get for it is real. A mythic multiplies the piece's stat by **2.0**, against 1.6 at legendary, and carries **three** extra bonuses on the side against legendary's two.
