# Get Started

Gluniverse is **live**, in **open alpha**. If you are in, entering takes about a minute.

## Where you play

On a **desktop, a tablet or a phone**: the mobile layout landed in July 2026. It runs in the browser, there is nothing to install.

## Are you in?

Yes. The door is **open**: anyone with a Solana wallet can enter, with no token to hold and no whitelist to be on. Access is still per wallet: your wallet is your character.

## The door

Connect a Solana wallet, **Phantom, Solflare, Backpack** or any wallet that can sign a message, and **sign** once. That is the whole entrance.

Signing is **not a transaction**: there is no fee, no gas, nothing to approve and nothing leaves your wallet. It is a message that proves the wallet is yours. One signature covers your whole session.

## You wake in the dead forest

Every soul wakes **alone in the dead forest**. Find the **scarecrow** and talk to it.

## Find your companion

Your companion is out there, **somewhere past the four ways**. Go look. Once you are bonded, the world opens.

One thing to know before you cross: **crossing is final**. Until you step into the shared world you can start over as many times as you like and pick a different form. The moment you cross, your form is locked forever and everything you gathered in the prologue is left behind. See [Your First Steps](/gluebook/gluniverse-first-steps).

## The controls in one breath

- **WASD** or the arrows to move, hold **Shift** to gallop, **click** the ground to walk there.
- **E** does almost everything: talk, gather, shop, sit at a terminal, claim a plot, open a chest, take a door.
- **Space** to jump, and a jump is also your dodge.
- **Click** a creature to strike it, hold **T** to charge, **R** for a horse's rear kick. [Fighting](/gluebook/gluniverse-fighting) has the rest.
- **B** bag, **C** soul, **P** build, **V** craft, **M** map, **Enter** to chat.

## What you start with

**₲1,000**, credited once when you first arrive, and nothing else. No gear, no materials, no land. Everything after that is yours to earn.

## Your progress follows your wallet

Progress is **saved to your wallet**. Sign in from anywhere and you continue exactly where you left off.

When you want to stop, use the **log out** button on the right of the top bar rather than reloading. Logging out takes you out of the world at once; a reload leaves your body standing there for about 45 seconds, and it can be killed.
